Ayres Leads Opening Pro SRF Practice From Atlanta


Nov. 4, 2011 - BRASELTON, Ga. - Tray Ayres, of Woodstock, Ga., led the opening SCCA Pro Racing Spec Racer Ford practice on Friday morning in preparation for this weekend’s season-ending doubleheader at Road Atlanta.

Ayres turned a fast lap of 1:40.852 (90.667 mph) at the 2.54-mile circuit to top the session in his No. 7 Ayers Racing Spec Racer Ford, followed closely by Richard Spicer’s No. 65 Spicer Race Engines/Hagerman Engineering Spec Racer Ford. Spicer, of Laurel, Md., posted a lap of 1:40.917 (90.609 mph) to finish just 0.065-second behind Ayers’ leading time.

Derek Schofield, of Lakeland, Fla., was third in the No. 60 PM Racing Spec Racer Ford with a time of 1:41.917 (90.382 mph), followed closely by Cliff White, of Vail, Colo. White No. 58 Spec Racer Ford lapped the circuit in 1:41.331 (90.239 mph).

Championship leader Scott Rettich, of Camden, Ohio, was fifth with a time of 1:41.333 (90.237 mph) in the No. 17 Alliance Autosport/Springboro Car Wash Spec Racer Ford.

The Pro Spec Racer Ford Series returns to the track for qualifying on Saturday afternoon, followed by a pair of races on Sunday to finish the season.
