Momentum Motorsports to hold factory-supported test for potential F4 drivers
INDIANAPOLIS – Momentum Motorsports, led by motorsports veteran Phil Picard Sr., is hosting a Formula 4 United States Championship factory-supported test for up to five drivers on May 10.
The test will occur at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina, with the goal of selecting two up-and-coming drivers to compete full time in the F4 U.S. Championship inaugural season.
F4 chassis engineer Crawford Composites, engine manufacturer Honda Performance Development and data specialists GEMS Performance Electronics will attend the test along with several members of the Momentum Motorsports team.
“The goal is to find career-minded drivers to run the whole series with our team,” Picard said. “We were extremely pleased to receive the very first customer car of the F4 U.S. series, and now we are looking to get some great drivers in our seats.”
Picard said the goal is to expose potential F4 U.S. Championship drivers to the new international formula and give them a chance to compete for a spot on the Momentum Motorsports team in front of the very engineers who brought the car to life.
Momentum Motorsports has been developing and supporting young drivers for nearly 15 years and will continue to race in the F2000 Championship series in addition to the new F4 series.
“We want to move these kids up the motorsports ladder,” Picard said. “Formula 4 is the perfect stepping stone from karting into open-wheel racing. We are looking forward to finding the next Momentum F4 drivers at this factory-supported test and get the ball rolling on this exciting new series.”
