With nine victories, 14 fast lap times and 11 pole positions seized, Cameron Das of Baltimore, reigned over the inaugural season of the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda.

For the second consecutive season, SCCA Pro Racing will memorialize Das’ significant achievements by presenting the Cameron Das Fast Qualifier Award presented by Worldeye to the F4 U.S. Championship competitor who captures pole position during each qualifying round. Five-hundred dollars per event will be on the line for the 36 drivers fighting for that first grid spot.

“Cameron had outstanding results during our inaugural year,” said SCCA Pro Racing Vice-President Steve Oseth. “We wanted to recognize our first champion in some way. Presenting an extra incentive for the driver with the fastest qualifying time was not only a perfect fit, but intensifies the competition. Worldeye helped make that possible for us to achieve.”

At the end of the season, competitors who gained speed after the qualifying rounds will have the opportunity to win a $2,000 grand prize for the most overall fast lap times of the season. During each of the six F4 U.S. event weekends, competitors have a potential to earn four fast lap times. Season two champion Kyle Kirkwood received the inaugural prize after securing 10 fast-lap times and eight poles.

The F4 U.S. Championship served as a gateway from karts to Formula 3 for Das. The inaugural season champion finished fifth in his maiden BRDC British F3 season in 2017 and has already made waves in the Euroformula Open Championship after scoring a podium and locking down a fast-lap time in his first race with Carlin.

Fans can track lap-times live for the entire F4 U.S. season on F4USChampionship.com. Qualifying for the opening event of the season at Virginia International Raceway starts Saturday with Round 1 following later that afternoon. The event wraps up on Sunday with two final rounds of racing.
